Chinese Mini Cumin Pork Skewers (Chinese Cooking Recipe)

Welcome to Xiao’s Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei and my goal is to make your cooking simple and exciting. Ever since my Mother showed me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia, in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and learn new Chinese recipes.

200g Pork Fillet
2 Spring Onions
5g Ginger
2 Cloves Garlic
1 Tsp Cooking Wine
1 Tbsp Light Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Sugar
½ Tsp Ground White Pepper
½ Tsp Chilli Powder
1 Tbsp Ground Cumin
1 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
Salt to Taste
25 Cocktail Sticks

1. Thinly slice the pork and place into a mixing bowl
2. Add salt, cooking wine, soy sauce, sugar, white pepper, half of the chilli and cumin powder. Mix well and leave to marinate for half of an hour
3. Finely chop the spring onions, ginger and garlic
4. Insert 1 cocktail stick through a piece of meat to form a mini skewer. Continue this method with the rest of the meat and cocktail sticks
5. Heat 1 litre of oil in the wok and place skewers into the hot oil
6. Deep fry for 3 to 5 minutes till light brown
7. Then remove from oil and drain and discard the oil
8. Heat 1 Tbsp oil in the wok, Add spring onion, ginger and garlic. Stir fry for few seconds
9. Add the pork skewers and stir-fry for a minute
10. Add the remaining chilli and cumin powder, sesame seeds and stir
11. Transfer to a dish and serve
