Chinese Steamed Pork & Radish (Chinese Cooking Recipe)

Welcome to Chinese Cooking. My name is Xiao Wei and my goal is to make your cooking simple and exciting. Ever since my Mother showed me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and learn new Chinese recipes.

350g Minced Pork
350g Green Radish
2 Spring Onions
10g Ginger
½ Tsp Ground Red Pepper
½ Tsp Ground Star Anise
1 Tbsp Light Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Cooking Wine
1 Tbsp Cornflour
1 Egg
Salt To Taste

1. Separate the egg white and yolk, beat the egg white until fluffy
2. Finely chop the spring onions and ginger
3. Place the minced pork in a mixing bowl
4. Add the spring onions, ginger, ground red pepper and star anise, soy sauce, cooking wine, salt and cornflour, mix well and then leave to marinate for 10 minutes
5. Thinly slice the radish to about 2mm in thickness
6. Boil water in the pan
7. Place the radish slices into the pan, boil for a minute, remove from pan, place under running cold water for 2 minutes and then drain
8. Take a slice of the radish, fold two opposite ends to form a shell, place into a pasta dish (deeper than a serving plate)
9. Repeat this with another slice of the radish, and then place it next to the last slice to keep the shell in shape
10.Repeat this with the remaining radish inside the dish to create a circle
11.Take 1 Tbsp of the meat mixture and place onto each radish shell
12.Place the remaining meat mixture in the middle of the circle, and then press down in the middle to create a dint
13.Pour the egg white over the meat in the centre, place the egg yolk into the dint created earlier
14.Place the dish into a steamer, steam for 15 minutes after the water started boiling
15.Remove from steamer and serve hot
