Chinese Sweet & Sour Potato & Pork Rolls (Xiao’s Kitchen Cooking Recipe)

Welcome to Xiao’s Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei, ever since my Mother taught me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for Cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and pick-up new Asian/Chinese recipes.

Ingredients:
300g Pork Fillet
1 Large Potato
3 Cloves Garlic
½ Tsp Sesame Seeds
3 Tbsp Cornflour
3 Tbsp Tomato Sauce
2 Tbsp Sugar
1½ Tbsp Rice Vinegar
Salt to Taste

Method:
1. Finely chop the garlic
2. Cut potato into medium thin strips
3. Slice pork into thin slices
4. Place one potato strip onto a slice of pork at one end
5. Fold tightly towards the other end to form a roll
6. Repeat this with the rest of the potato strips
7. Place cornflour on a plate
8. Roll the pork rolls on the cornflour one at the time – ensure an even coverage. Shake off excess flour
9. Heat ½ litre of oil in the wok
10. Place the pork rolls into the oil one at the time, deep fry on medium heat for 5 minutes till cooked. Remove and drain
11. Leave 1 Tbsp of oil in the wok and discard the rest
12. Add the garlic and fry for few seconds
13. Add tomato sauce, sugar, vinegar, salt and 2 Tbsp (50ml) water. Bring to the boil
14. Add the deep fried pork rolls into the wok, stir to ensure even coating
15. Turn heat to low and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stir once during cooking
16. Transfer onto a dish, sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve
