Vermont Maple Ground Beef Stew

Recipe from Mike Christian, Orwell, VT 

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 pound thick sliced bacon
2 medium or 1 large onion thickly sliced
1 large can of diced tomatoes
1 large can of Kidney beans
1/2 cup Pure Vermont Maple Syrup
Cut bacon into 1 inch squares and brown in a frying pan. Remove bacon, drain and discard grease. Brown beef and onions, then put all ingredients together in a heavy pot.
Simmer for 45 minutes or put in a crock pot on low for 2 hours.
